My wife and I engaged Robbie Dickson of Equinox Architecture to design our Breckenridge home and we could not be more pleased with our decision. Robbie listened intently to understand what we wanted from the final project and kept our budget in mind and never pushed us to increase our budget unnecessarily. His ability to capture view corridors that we couldn't imagine existed, creatively situate our home on a challenging lot, and maximize every last inch of usable space is a testament to his creativity and professionalism. Our home was featured in the 2018 Summit County Parade of Homes and won Best Home under 4000 square feet. I cannot recommend Equinox Architecture highly enough.

We went to Robbie with some very specific goals including a focus on sustainable design and a limit on size. Robbie was able to achieve our goals, but also designed a home that maximized the views from almost every room. He achieved solar gains beyond what we thought possible - it is rare for the heating system to have to send any heat to the main level of our home. We won't build another home but if we were going to - we would go back to Equinox Architecture.

When my husband and I decided to build a home in Breckenridge, Colorado, we queried friends on their experiences with local architects. Robbie Dickson of Equinox Architecture, LLC, was referred to us with high regard. After meeting Robbie, we knew he was the right choice. Not only is he a talented architect, but he is deeply involved in the community of Breckenridge, which is important to us. Robbie worked on every detail of our home with us and our builder. From choosing the property (we had three in mind and Robbie's careful eye helped us make the final decision), to the completion of the project, Robbie has provided his knowledge, patience, insight and innovative ideas. Robbie's expertise with passive solar design uses natural light and heat beautifully. The planning began in 2012 and we now are living in our beautiful home. We highly recommend Robbie Dickson if you are considering new home designs or remodeling an existing structure.

We began working with Robbie to design our home in 2005. Having never been involved in a project like this before, we appreciated Robbie's knowledge of the area as well as his expert architectural skills. He was also very patient and willing to work with us as we constantly changed our minds and had him redesigning different elements. He communicated with us clearly and regularly and responded to our inquiries quickly. Robbie had many great ideas that we incorporated into our plans.

We moved into our home in 2007 and have been very happy with the design. Robbie was very easy to work with and we would recommend him highly.

Sarah and I purchased our lot in the summer of 2006 and began to gather photos and images of homes and features we wanted in our home. We attended several parade homes and decided in late 2008 to begin the process of selecting an architect and builder. We met with 10 or more builders and 4 or 5 architects. Robbie (Equinox) was our only choice when it came to an architect. In our initial discussions he spoke about bringing the outside into our home, he discussed the mass of the home; he spent time reviewing our images and photos. He visited the site to understand the view corridors, the sun angle during various seasons, and the potential for natural heating. He blended our home into the landscape rather than having it fight the surroundings. We understood what we wanted in our home (which is critical to a successful project), but in all candor in a home with 2500 sq ft of living space we never expected to accomplish all we requested.....but we did!!.... The finished product is immensely livable, flexible and comfortable, whether it is just Sarah and I (with our dogs) or the never ending stream of visitors during the holiday season. The sub-contractors who built the home felt it had the roominess of a home 20-25% bigger. The deck and the flow of the main living space allows for great entertaining. The views are available at every opportunity. The work with the builder, handled by Robbie, provided us creative ways to meet our budget (such as a shed roof car port in lieu of a third garage) but still have the quality and impact we wanted from our mountain home. There is not an inch of wasted space in this home and I would recommend Robbie without hesitation.

My wife and I decided to undertake the daunting task of designing and building a beach house in Baja, Mexico. We hired Robbie Dickson with Equinox Architecture because of his strong experience designing second homes for families. Even though most of his prior work was from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado using wood (very different from the coastal deserts of Baja), we felt comfortable that he would design a fabulous getaway for us. We were not disappointed. Take a look at the photos and you can see for yourself. It was a great experience all around. The builders who didn't speak english commented that they were the best architectural plans they had ever built from, the easiest to follow and with all the appropriate details called out to make building go smoothly and efficiently, even in a foreign country. Hi marks for Equinox Architecture.

We moved into our new home, designed by Equinox Architecture in early 2019 and we couldn't be happier. Robbie pays strong attention to detail, and is a pleasure to work with. Robbie typically designs mountain homes in and around Summit County, Colorado, and we are on the coast of North Carolina. He made the extra effort to research and learn the latest construction trends for homes in a coastal, humid climates. He also learned about designing for coastal storms and hurricane force winds. This is the second home Equinox has designed for our family. The other one was in Baja, Mexico. We find that Robbie's experience designing vacation and family homes in different areas and climates, using different kinds of materials, gives him broader knowledge and experience than architects that work exclusively in one area repeating the same style and materials. We highly recommend Equinox for your project. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions.

I have been a general contractor in Summit County for the last 30 years. During that time I have had the privilege to work with several very talented and creative architects in designing and building high end custom homes. Robbie is one of the architects that I was fortunate enough to work with on multiple occasions. When the time came for me to build a spec home on a lot that I had owned for over a decade, Robbie was the first person that came to mind to fill the design position on my team. Looking back I am grateful that he was able to fit me into what then was a very busy schedule.

I had been struggling to come up with a buildable design on my own for years. I knew what I wanted the home to look like and how the floor plan should flow but I could not get all the elements to come together. After a long meeting with Robbie where I showed him all of my ideas and frustrations and he listened patiently, he said he thought he could have a rough concept for me in a couple of weeks. I thought "yeah ,right".

About 2 weeks later Robbie called me in for a meeting. The conceptual plans he showed me were truly amazing. He had incorporated everything that I wanted and solved all of my problems, mainly the roof .He got more house into 3700 sq ft than I thought was possible, including 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, 2 living spaces, home office, great room, 3 car garage and great outdoor spaces as well. He then went on to work with the engineer and local government agencies to deliver complete and professional construction documents in a very timely manner, which made the permit process a very simple matter.

Looking back, Robbie was a big part of the reason that the project was successful for me. He was creative, professional and pleasant to deal with. Bottom line , he delivered as promised . I sincerely hope that I get the opportunity to work with him again.
